
Crossed tracks: The Golmaal Returns team isn't the first to dress in drag on the silver screen. Presenting the world of cross-dressing in cinema.

His turn: Don't know why Aamir had such a hard time with the Ardhnarishwar ad he acted in recently, given that he had already played a man and a woman in Baazi in 1995.

Daddy in drag: Master of disguises Robin Williams dressed as a woman in Mrs Doubtfire in 1993. He played a man who dressed as a woman to be with his children.

Following suit: Close on the heels of Mrs Doubtfire, came the Kamal Hassan starrer Chachi 420 (1998). Needless to say, it was a complete copy of its Hollywood predecessor.

More inspiration: Bollywood's funny-man Govinda dressed in drag for Aunty No.1 (1998) as well as a scene in Raja Babu (1994).

Yo Mamma: Martin Lawrence dressed as a woman for Big Momma's House and its sequel. He plays an FBI agent who has to adopt this disguise to protect a woman.

Basic beauty: Bollywood's newest pretty face is Riteish Deshmukh who played the role of a woman to perfection in Apna Sapna Money Money (2006). He later revealed that so good was his disguise and demeanour that one of his co-stars - Chunky Pandey - actually asked him out, thinking he was a woman.

From the master: Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece Psycho (1960) was one of the first films to depict not just cross-dressing, but also multiple personality disorder. Anthony Perkins played Norman Bates and his terrifying 'mother', Mrs Bates.

Worked out woman: Bollywood hunk Salman Khan donned a dress for Jaan-e-Mann (2006). He could have done without the sleeveless dressed though, given his bisceps!

Katty: Legendary actress Katherine Hepburn dressed like a man for most of Sylvia Scarlett (1935). This was her first film opposite Cary Grant.

Antara again: Riteish Deshmukh, Antara Mali and Aftaab Shivdasani starred in the gender confusion, and reincarnation film Mr. Ya Miss (2005).

Desperate and drag: Dustin Hoffman dressed in a bright red dress for one of the most significant films of his career - Tootsie (1982). This film was also Geena Davis' screen debut.

Star dragged: Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan dressed in various women's outfits for the famous song, 'mere angne mein...' from Laawaris (1981).

Some like it crossed: While Marilyn Monroe maintained her gender, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis dressed as women in Some Like It Hot (1959).

Drag debut: Imraan Khan sported a sari in one scene in his debut film, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008).

Ladies and gentlemen: Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman acted as the man ready to undergo a sex-change operation in Transamerica (2005).

Devil dragged to the door: Ranvir Shorey was seen in a petticote in his recent film Ugly Aur Pagli, opposite Mallika Sherawat.

FBI fascinated: Shawn and Marlon Wayans play FBI agents in White Chicks (2004). The brothers must protect two heiresses from a kidnapping plot.

Hillary's achievement: Hillary Swank played a transvestite in the Academy Award winning film, Boys Don't Cry (1999).
