23 Years After Shah Rukh Khan's Deewana: What He Looked Like Then and Now

23 years down the line, SRK has transformed himself from the boy-next-door to the dapper King Khan

New Delhi: It's been 23 years to the day that Shah Rukh Khan's debut film Deewana released on June 25, 1992. His co-stars were Divya Bharti, who died tragically just a year later, and Rishi Kapoor. Mr Kapoor tweeted on Thursday morning:

Here's SRK and Divya Bharti from Deewana:

#23GoldenYearsOfSRK has been trending on Twitter. This tweet from a fan club traces SRK's appearance over the decades:

Before moving to Bollywood, Fauji and Circus had made SRK a household name in TV-watching India. In 1991, he left Delhi for Mumbai and quickly signed four films. Deewana was the first of SRK's films to release but the movie he was cast in first was Hema Malini's Dil Aashna Hai, also co-starring Divya Bharti. Chamatkar with Urmila Matondkar and Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman with Juhi Chawla also released in 1992. His next few films starred him in anti-hero roles - Baazigar, Darr, Anjaam. 1994 brought cult film Karan Arjun with Salman Khan and after 1995's seminal Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, there was no doubting SRK's superstar credentials.

Now pushing 50, Shah Rukh makes up one-third of the Khan trinity that rules Bollywood, with Salman and Aamir. He has Dilwale out this December with Kajol, and is also making two other films - Fan and Raees. Currently filming Dilwale in Bulgaria, his 23 years in the industry don't appear to be on SRK's mind:
