Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao created quite a flutter when they announced, without any fanfare whatsoever, the birth of their son on December 1, 2011. And judging by this recent appearance by the family, no fanfare is exactly how it's going to be.
On the evening of Sunday, August 5, Aamir, Kiran and eight month old Azad Rao Khan were spotted at Mumbai airport. They were jetting off to the US where Aamir is to begin shooting Dhoom 3 in Chicago. Dressed for comfort in a white T-shirt, green pants and a black fedora, Aamir toted little Azad in a grey baby sling. Father and son made a striking picture as they strode through the airport.
The last time we saw a celebrity tot was when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan took little Aaradhya with her to Cannes in May this year. Here's the big difference between the two star sightings - Ash and her entourage went to extreme lengths to keep Aaradhya's face shielded from the cameras, Aamir took no such precautions. The tiny Khan gazed peacefully around the busy airport, and daddy was unperturbed by the flashbulbs. Mommy Kiran Rao, intent on navigating her luggage safely through to check in, also didn't seem to be bothered.
Aamir Khan is, as we say quite often, a superstar like no other. He dispenses with the trappings of fame more often than not. And strolling nonchalantly in public with his never-seen-before baby son is exactly what we'd expect the man who went to Varanasi to attend the wedding of his auto driver friend's son to do.
