New Delhi: It's indeed Ae Dil Ki Diwali!

Karan Johar's much-anticipated film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil hit screens on Friday and has already won over the hearts of many, including actor Aamir Khan, who could not stop raving about it on Twitter.

On Saturday, Aamir said that Karan has surpassed expectations and done a brilliant job with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which is based on the theme of unrequited love.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is reportedly loosely based on 1977 film Doosra Aadmi. It has an ensemble cast of Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan - each of who form one part of a love triangle, which is made complicated with the inclusion of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. He stars as Anushka's first love while Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt and Lisa Haydon also have cameos.

Earlier in an interview with news agency IANS, Kareena Kapoor Khan reviewed the film as Karan's "best" work: "I have watched Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and loved it. All actors, whether it's Ranbir Kapoor or Anushka Sharma or Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, everyone has done such a fantastic job. I think the audience is going to love the film. This is Karan's best."

Ahead of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil's release, the inclusion of Fawad in the film prompted an outcry from some sections. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil raked in an amount of Rs 13.30 crore on opening day when it clashed with Ajay Devgn's Shivaay on October 28.
