- Actor Pran, 93, will receive this year's Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest official recognition for the film fraternity. The award, which consists of the Swara Kamal medal, a shawl and a cash prize, honours a prominent film personality every year.
- Pran will receive the award on 3 May 2013, which will also officially mark Indian cinema's 100th year.

- Pran has been in and out of hospital over the last few months. He last made a rare public appearance at friend and colleague Amitabh Bachchan's 70th birthday party in October, 2012.
