Aishwarya Rai Bachchan last appeared opposite husband Abhishek Bachchan in 2010’s Raavan
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's maternity leave is over and the mother of nine-month-old Aaradhya got back to work with an ad campaign for Kalyan Jewellers for whom she is the brand ambassador. The natural progression of events would be a film, soon. But not soon enough, said some, after Ash was reported to have specified that she would only sign films that co-starred husband Abhishek Bachchan.
But it appears the reports were untrue. Aishwarya's spokesperson has clarified that the former Miss World has laid down no such conditions. A statement from the actress' representative says:
"A certain section of the media has been wrongly reporting that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan would do films only with her husband in the future. This bit of news has in the past also been circulated during the time Aishwarya was getting married and at other times as well. We would like to state for the record and put an end to any such speculation that this information is incorrect and is a figment of someone's imagination. It's disheartening to see such tactics being employed by people threatened by her position. Aishwarya has been a complete professional and will at no point let personal equations affect the films she acts in".
Aishwarya last appeared opposite Abhishek in 2010's Raavan. They've also co-starred in Sarkar Raj, Guru, Umrao Jaan, Dhoom 2, Khakee, Kuch Naa Kaho and Dhai Akshar Prem Ke.
The last movie Aishwarya appeared in before daughter Aaradhya was born was Guzaarish co-starring Hrithik Roshan. She would have had a film out this month if she hadn't been ousted from Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine, amid much controversy, after it was revealed that she was pregnant. She was replaced with Kareena Kapoor who's expected to become a critics' darling with the film, which releases on September 21.
