Akshay Throws A Lavish Wrap-up Party

Mumbai: In B-Town circles, Akshay Kumar may be perceived as being quite tight-fisted with money. He disproved this theory by throwing a lavish wrap-up party for Desi Boyz cast-and-crew last night.

The bash was at one of London's most exclusive lounge-bars Nobu, where you can find the finest sushi dishes in the city. Says a unit source, "It is one of the most expensive and exclusive restaurants in London. Yesterday was the last day of the Desi Boyz schedule in London. Normally, the producers throw a wrap-up party after a schedule ends but Akshay told the producers (Eros) that he was so happy with the way that the entire London schedule went by that he wanted to throw a huge party for the cast and crew."

The source adds that co-stars John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Akshay's close friends Farah Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala, who are also in London on work, attended the party along with director Rohit Dhawan.

The source continues, "Akshay told producer Krishika Lulla that he loved the way Rohit has shot the film. It was a 40-day schedule and throwing a party for everyone was AK's way of showing his appreciation. He invited everybody - from the spot boys to all the unit hands and took care of them all personally."

Krishika said, "Akshay said he wanted to throw the party himself. He wanted me to join too but I had to stay back in Mumbai for work. Though I missed the bash, I will make sure he throws another party for me in Mumbai! I have known Akshay from his first movie. He's the one motivated me to lose weight. He's like a big brother to me."
