Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will
inaugurate the Kolkata Film Festival to be held this November,
official sources said today.
Big B's confirmation comes after West Bengal Chief
Minister Mamata Banerjee personally requested the actor to be
present during the inaugural ceremony to be held on November
10.
"Amitabh Bachchan responds to Mamata Banerjee, coming
to Kolkata, will inaugurate Kolkata International Film
Festival on 10th November," Trinamool MP Kunal Ghosh said in a
tweet.
The 17th edition of the film fest held last year was
inaugurated by Shah Rukh Khan and Sharmila Tagore at the
Netaji Indoor Stadium.
SRK, also the state's brand ambassador, might also be
present at this year's inaugural show, sources said.
The CM, also the state's information and cultural
affairs minister, had revived the film festival after coming
to power last year by bringing in Bollywood stars.
Incidentally, Mamata Banerjee and Mr Bachchan had both made their
debut in Lok Sabha together in 1984.
