Arjun Kapoor: I share a comfort level with Parineeti Chopra

Arjun Kapoor comes clean on his alleged love affair with his Ishaqzaade co-star, Parineeti Chopra.

Highlights

  • He may be just one-film-old (he has three in his kitty), but Arjun Kapoor has already hogged headlines thanks to his alleged link-ups, his relationship with his co-stars and his famous family. With his yet-to-release film Aurangzeb's first look out, Arjun Kapoor is back in the news. Here are a few excerpts from an interview with the young actor.
  • Question: The industry couldn't stop talking about your big fight with Ranveer Singh.
  • Arjun Kapoor: One day people said we had a fight and the next day our pictures having tea together were published. Our lives are scrutinised to no end. There was never a fight and it will never happen. People just make up stories and say he came for my party and fought with me. He is a pretty normal guy, so why would he do that? That's so stupid. In fact, at the party he danced with me on Chokra jawaan re (from Ishaqzaade) even though his back was hurting. He celebrated my success. It has been an amazing experience working with him since he is so hardworking, energetic and full of life.
  • Question: How's it having another Chopra sister as your co-star?
  • Arjun Kapoor: I knew Priyanka even before I met Parineeti! It was no different on the Gunday sets as it was almost like two friends hanging out, pulling each other's legs and joking around. We were like a bunch of jokers on the sets. Interestingly, both the sisters are actually quite similar and are very easy to get along. They have an amazing sense of humour.
  • Question: You have been in the news for romantic link-ups?
  • Arjun Kapoor: With Parineeti I share a certain amount of comfort level and if I go out for lunch and dinner with her, so what? A boy and a girl can be friends and at the end of the day you become numb to it. It is the price to pay for being part of such a nice profession. We get to entertain so many people and that's what they remember.
  • Question: Your family is associated with Bollywood. Is your sister Anshula eyeing the industry as well?
  • Arjun Kapoor: Anshula is my most honest critic and she is a complete non-filmy person. She is the most normal person in the family. She loves watching films but has no inclination to join Bollywood. She loves Ranbir Kapoor and I keep pulling her leg about that. I even told Ranbir about it. She is very happy with her job at Google. She is young and is yet to figure out what she wants to do with her life.
  • Question: You have been getting a lot of compliments about your style sense too. Does your cousin Sonam influence you?
  • Arjun Kapoor: When you grow up together in the family, no one advises you. Obviously, she is always helpful when I am confused. If she sees a good picture of mine she immediately compliments me. Both she and Rhea do it. Recently, Sonam saw my upcoming film's poster and called me to say she loved my look. People take her very seriously when it comes to dressing. It is not just fashion but Sonam has always been a good sister.
  • Question: You play a double role in your next. Was it difficult?
  • Arjun Kapoor: As an actor it was a great test and was very difficult to begin with. Very few people get a chance to play double roles in their second film itself. Both the characters are like chalk and cheese. I was very keen to see whether I was capable of pulling it off. One of the nicest compliments came from Hrithik Roshan when he called me in Kolkata (while he was shooting for Gunday) to tell me how much he liked the film's poster. It was an honour and very flattering.
