  • Expected to be as star-studded as the previous years, this year over 30 celebrities, including Ranbir Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Chitrangada Singh and Gul Panag, have signed up to run the marathon.

  • "I think it is the desire to achieve and keep running. Because each time you run, it is a personal accomplishment and when you run for a cause or for a reason, it is increasing the level of commitment," says Gul Panag.
  • Fitness apart, there's another important reason for Bollywood to sign up. Stars will also run for charity. "Apart from it being one of India's premier sporting events, it also the largest, single largest charity platform," adds Gul Panag.
  • Actor Shahzahn Padamsee is running for NGO Mizwan. "I am running for Mizwan, it is Shabana Azmi's charity organisation and she is a very close family friend. She asked me to do it and I was more than willing and more than happy to support the cause," she says.
  • Over 12 crore rupees has already been raised and organisers are hoping to touch the 15 crore which will go towards social causes that NGOs undertake.
  • Over 38000 people, including celebrities, corporates and ordinary Mumbaikars will participate in the marathon this Sunday.
