Chinese Actress Zhang Ziyi Says She Would Love to Do a Bollywood Movie

Ziyi is in Panjim as a part of the International Film Festival of India

New Delhi:

Chinese star Zhang Ziyi may be best known to international audiences for her martial arts skills in films like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Rush Hour but at the opening ceremony of the International Film Festival of India, or IFFI, she greeted the crowd of Indians faces with a warm namaste. Ziyi is at IFFI representing Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmaster.

Ziyi, dressed in red, helped light the inaugural lamp with Indian stars Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth.

Ahead of the ceremony, she spoke to NDTV.

"The Grandmaster took three years to make, it's not normal," revealed the actress, who seemed really excited to be a part of the festival.

"I've heard there's many Bollywood movies every year. I would love to do a Bollywood movie, I used to be a dancer," she added.

Ziyi also explained why she's given Hollywood a wide berth despite the grand success of 2005's Memoirs of a Geisha. The actress said, "I love to do strong roles. Hollywood movies don't give one such kind of roles."

Ziyi also told NDTV that she really hoped she would get a good chance to see more Indian films. "That's my dream," she said.

A dream that's fairly easy to make come true and, we say, start with films starring Mr Bachchan and Rajinikanth.

The 45th edition of IFFI began in Goa on November 20.
