Deepika and Irrfan in Varanasi for Piku shoot.
Bollywood stars Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan, who were shooting Shoojit Sircar's
Piku in Varanasi earlier this week, were in for a 'treat' from local fans.
Even though filming was organized with maximum secrecy, a large chunk of the local population got wind of the shoot and arrived to watch Deepika and Irrfan at work on the famous
ghats. The crew also had some interesting moments as some enthusiastic onlookers on a boat reportedly, sang Bhojpuri songs from across the river to get the attention of the actors.
Despite repeated attempts by fans to engage with Deepika and Irrfan, the local police ensured a smooth shoot by making rounds of the river.
Deepika, dressed in an all-black outfit and checked shawl, was seen sitting on the stairs of the
ghat, engaged in a conversation with Irrfan Khan.
The actors braved the bone-chilling winter weather of the
ghats to shoot for the film, which also features megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
Deepika and Irrfan reportedly looked particularly impressed with the beauty and serenity of the
ghats.
Parts of the film were also shot in Kolkata, where Big B was seen cycling through though the streets of the city, visiting iconic landmarks like the Howrah Bridge and Victoria Memorial.
Mr Bachchan has reportedly completed all his scenes and therefore was not required for the Varanasi shoot.
Piku will release on April 30, 2015.
