Fashion Report: The Verdict on Mira Rajput Kapoor's Wedding Wardrobe

New Delhi: While congratulations are in order for Mira Rajput Kapoor, and we do wish her every happiness, we also feel a little advice, maybe a few warnings are in order. One minute a young collegiate living large at LSR, the next minute: fair game. Yes, as the partner of a celebrity, Mira has much to look forward to: cameras everywhere, relentless scrutiny of her waistline, and, of course, her every style statement up for grabs.

Its already started. And yes, we too are as guilty as charged, at least of the latter. Because, as we all know, weddings are a national sport, and there's no point to them without the, well, post-game post-mortems. Ask Avantika Malik Khan. She knows how that goes.

Mira Rajput, though, for a newbie dealing with both (we're assuming) wedding stress and a faithful paparazzi, held up pretty darn well. She played it safe, yes, but she also played it well.

Take the mehendi - she was cheerful in bright, sunshiny yellow. A theme that continued to the next ceremony as well when she switched to an Anita Dongre lehenga. Bright and gold flecked, it was, whether by accident or design, fresh, fun - a youthful choice. Which also of course served to remind everyone of how very, very young she is. A thumb in the nose of the naysayers? Or just a celebration? Either way, works for us.

And in a non-diva move that we're delighted with, she kept it on for the sangeet as well. No frantic changing, no colour coordinating (thank goodness) with her groom. So far, so very good.

The actual ceremony pictures have stayed as discreet as they clearly wanted them to-so no comment there, except to say from the few peeks we've found on Twitter: she made a beautiful bride.

Then there was the photo-op. Pale pink Anamika Khanna, a little predictable but so pretty we're not going to quibble. (Much). It ticked all the boxes: age appropriate, occasion appropriate, just girly and glittery enough. And by the way, we can't say enough about her hair. In fact, we predict that side-sweeping passa will be the new rage. In case you're wondering: no , we haven't forgotten the groom. Shahid looked streamlined, sharp and delighted. Which is all we can ask for. His best friend and designer Kunal Rawal served him well.

For the reception that evening, Mira actually broke the mould a little. Hair down, an edgier Anamika Khanna. With a sort of sheer, golden half cape on a beautifully embroidered ivory lehenga. She looked all growed up and ready to take on the world. And what a whirl it promises to be. But they both seem ready, fine feathers et al. And since both have put their best feet forward, and very well shod they've been, we're looking forward to it too.
