Hollywood Guides Bollywood Stunts: Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan

With rising competition, stunts in Hindi films are getting intriguing by the day.

New Delhi:

Bollywood has never shied away from making its action sequences more racy. And with rising competition, stunts in Hindi films are getting intriguing by the day.

The latest trend is to rope in Hollywood action gurus to choreograph action sequences and the latest star to echo this tune is actor Akshay Kumar, who roped in Parkour specialist Cyril Raffaelli for his next action flick Baby.

The film, helmed by Neeraj Pandey, is set to release in 2015 and its sequences will be styled by Cyril who is also a martial arts expert and has been associated with Hollywood films like The Incredible Hulk (2008), Tekken (2010) and was last seen onscreen in Djinns (2010). Cyril is also a certified practitioner of Shotokan Karate and Wushu, techniques that he often uses in his stunts.

Given Akshay's love for stunts and action sequences- which is apparent in his movies like Khiladi series, Khakhi, Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty, Rowdy Rathore among others, it is only fitting that he rope in the best stuntmen for his film. Dubbed him as a 'God in my Parkour World', Akshay couldn't contain his excitement about working with the Parkour guru and went on to say, "This man has the most talented body imaginable!"

But this is not where Bollywood's fascination with Hollywood stuntmen ends. Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has also reportedly roped in Fast and Furious stunt director Spiro Razatos, who has been associated with films like Bad Boys II, The Expendables, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Training Day, and Vantage Point in the past. Spiro has also worked with Shah Rukh Khan, along with stunt coordinators Andy Gill and Henry Kingi Jr for his film Ra. One, in the past.

Sanjay Gupta's film, based on a Korean thriller, is also actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's comeback movie where the diva intends to perform her own own stunts.

Even recently released film, Bang Bang, had an influential Hollywood stunt director onboard. Andy Armstrong, the man behind the cutting edge action sequences in The Amazing Spiderman 2, worked with Hrithik to create mind-blowing action sequences for the film.

But then there are some exceptions to the herd as well. Filmmakers like Sajid Nadiawala, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan, and a few others would much rather put their faith in the home grown stunt coordinators and specialist. Case in point, Anal Arasu who has worked for Salman Khan starrer films like Kick, Dabangg 2, Jai Ho and even Rohit Shetty's Singham Returns.

Also, it is impossible to not talk about Rohit Shetty when it comes to stunts and action. The son of popular stunt director MS Shetty, aka 'Fighter Shetty' Rohit likes to keep the action coordination under his control. His stunt sequences are some of the most exceptional ones seen in Bollywood.

Even South Indian directors put immense faith in Indian stunt coordinators. Shankar's I, which incorporates some of the best action sequences, will see the craft of Peter Hein. The Chennai based stunt coordinator has films like Ghajini, Robot, among others to his credit.
