Mumbai: Filmmaker Farah Khan has come out in support of actor Aamir Khan, who waded into controversy with his remarks on growing 'intolerance.' She says it's 'wrong' to attack the actor. (Also Read: Aamir Khan Stands by Comments, Says 'Wife and I Don't Intend to Leave India')

"I was waiting for this particular question. I just want to say that there is no 'intolerance' but when somebody has a point of view everybody jumps on him and attacks him," Farah said at an event here.

"That is the very definition of 'intolerance.' So, it's ironic that we say 'how can you say we are intolerant'," she added.

Aamir, 50, became the focal point of a raging debate after he expressed "alarm and despondency" over the rise in incidents of intolerance in the last six to eight months in an interaction at a ceremony in Delhi.

Speaking at the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism in Delhi, Aamir had said, "When I chat with Kiran at home, she says, 'Should we move out of India?' That's a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. She fears what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day."

He had also supported those who returned their awards, saying one of the ways for creative people to express their dissatisfaction or disappointment was by giving back awards.
