Jiah Khan case: confusion over handwriting in different notes

Jiah Khan and Suraj Pancholi dated for an year before the relationship ended.

Highlights

  • The handwriting of Jiah Khan's letters found in Suraj Pancholi's residence appear distinctly different from the one handed over by her mother Rabiya Khan.
  • A similar letter, reportedly written by Jiah just before she committed suicide on June 3, was handed over to the police by her mother Rabiya, a few days after the tragic incident. Questions are now being raised about the authenticity of the handwriting spotted in the two sets of notes retrieved from the two families.
  • Both the letters have portrayed Jiah as the much-in-love girlfriend. While the letter that was found at Suraj's Juhu residence was signed 'Nafisa' (Jiah's real name), the note handed over by Rabiya was unsigned. The copies of both the letters are with Mid Day.
  • Eyebrows have been raised over the apparent distinctly different handwriting observed in the two sets of letters, prompting the police to forward them for forensic lab tests.
  • A common friend of Jiah and Suraj says, "The handwriting seems to be different and the language style also varies. In the meanwhile, according to sources, Jiah's family could be leaving for London soon."
  • While the Pancholis refused to comment, Rabiya's boyfriend Tom Thomas said, "All the speculations are wrong. We are waiting for the experts' opinion. Once the reports come, we will take further action. All the letters were written by Jiah; how can anyone claim otherwise? Even if the experts say the handwriting is different, we will still take further action."
  • Jiah's mother took to social media to state: "I am going on a spiritual retreat to connect myself with my daughter...I am still with you, I will respond to your tweets when I return. Nirmal I think wo bhag raha hai after letter disclosure!"
  • Aditya Pancholi's real name is Nirmal.
