Katrina will walk the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival this year
The Bollywood community on Twitter has swelled by one with actress Katrina Kaif joining the microblogging site over the weekend. However, the social media-abstaining actress is only stopping by officially and possibly temporarily, like boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor did in January.
Katrina is on Twitter to promote L'Oreal and her own debut at the Cannes Film Festival as an ambassador for the cosmetics giant. If her Twitter handle - @KatrinaAtCannes - isn't evidence enough, check out her tweets:
Twitter may be strictly business for Katrina but her fans gave her a superstar welcome.
Katrina, who was made a L'Oreal ambassador last year, will walk the red carpet on the first day of the Cannes Film Festival and will also attend the opening ceremony. She will join actresses Sonam Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who are now L'Oreal veterans of Cannes.
In January, Katrina's actor boyfriend Ranbir made a 24-hour appearance on Twitter in aid of a brand he endorses. Neither he nor Katrina are regulars on social media, unlike Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and other actors who are the purveyors of Bollywood cool on Twitter. In Ranbir's case, his father Rishi is currently compensating for his son's social media absence with a fast and furious flurry of tweets.
