Highlights

  • Director Mohit Suri, who has directed musical Aashiqui 2, says he feels more responsible towards those audiences who haven't seen the original 1990 film.
  • "I feel more responsible making Aashiqui 2 for those people who don't know about 'Aashiqui'. People who are 21 or 22 years old, or like my cousin Alia, who wasn't born that time. I feel more responsibility to connect to those people," Mohit Suri told IANS.
  • "The people who have already watched Aashiqui will come to watch it to pull it down. They will come to say that Aashiqui was good. I want to connect to those who don't know about the music of that Aashiqui. I know there are few (such people), but that's the responsibility," he added.
  • The original Aashiqui, directed by Mahesh Bhatt, featured Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal.
  • The new movie, releasing April 26, stars Kunal Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. It is not the sequel to the old film, but they share a similarity in the fact that both are musical sagas and romantic stories.
  • Asked about the commercial viability of the movie, Mohit Suri said: "The film stands alone on its own ground. I won't be making this film with newcomers if I was in that ball game of Rs 100 crore."
