Nothing Objectionable About Goa In DMD: Abhishek

Abhishek Bachchan, the male lead inDum Maaro Dum (DMD) set for release on April22, today said there was nothing in the film that could offendGoa and its people.

"There is nothing objectionable in the film about Goaor its people. Producers are prepared even now to deletescenes which are being considered objectionable," Bachchan,who is on his maiden visit to Bihar to promote his film, toldreporters.

DMD, he said, has been cleared and certified by the Censor Board for release but even then there was objection tothe film's content or alleged description of the people of aregion in a negative way.

"The film is full of entertainment and would draw filmbuffs," Bachchan junior said and urged filmlovers to watch itin the theatres.

The Panaji bench of Bombay High Court has beenpetitioned to ban the release of DMD for being disrespectfulto the women of Goa and against public order, decency andmorality and would affect tourism in the state. The stategovernment as well as women's groups are up in arms over theallegedly sleazy portrayal of Goa.

Goa Women's Commission has filed a police complaintagainst the filmmaker Rohan Sippy for bad portrayal of womenin the film.

To a question whether the ongoing the T20 IndianPremier League (IPL) would affect the viewership of the newfilm, Abhishek said the fact that DMD was being releasedduring the tournament spoke about the confidence of theproducer.

"We are confident of the success of DMD," he said.

On Bihar being the first destination during hisongoing promotional tour for his new film, Abhishek said itspeople were keen movie buffs and had been affectionate towardshis family, including his parents Amitabh Bachchanand Jaya.

"I have myself been impressed with the fantasticprogress made by the state in recent years which was reflectedin the confidence of the people," he said adding theperception about the people of Bihar had also changed forbetter.

Bachchan junior said he wants to act in Bhojpuri filmseven though he is not fluent in the language.

Bachchan senior had appeared in a Bhojpuri filmGanga several years ago.
