New Delhi: This year, actress Radhika Apte has twice found herself - or supposedly herself - being leered at on social media. A clip from an Anurag Kashyap-directed short film in which she is partly nude was being circulated on WhatsApp last weekend, and in February photos which allegedly showed her naked found their way online. The February photos were not of her, said the 29-year-old actress, tweeting: If you're going to get someone to pass off as naked me, she needs to a lot more like me."

The only purpose these 'scandals' have served is to eclipse the attention that critics have given to Radhika's performances in 2015, in the films Badlapur and Hunterrr.

Radhika Apte, born on September 7, 1985, is the daughter of Pune's top neurosurgeon. She went to Pune's Fergusson College and later studied dance in London.

In 2005, she appeared in her first film - Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!, also starring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao. She was then cast in a series of regional language films - Bengali films Antaheen and Rupkatha Noy, Marathi films Samaantar, Tukaram and Lai Bhaari, Dhoni, All in All Azhagu Raja and Vetri Selvan in Tamil, and Ram Gopal Varma's two-part bilingual drama Rakht Charitra - with Hindi films like Shor in the City and I Am.

For Bollywood fans, Radhika is a recent discovery, but in filmmaking circles she is considered a scene-stealing actress of immense talent. Anurag Kashyap, who also produced her film Hunterrr, described Radhika in an interview to the Times of India as "one of the bravest actresses we have" and "forward thinking."

Radhika has several other films coming up this year, including the Tamil Ula and the Hindi biopic Manjhi: The Mountain Man.

Apart from her screen career, Radhika is a veteran of the stage and is associated with Pune theatre group Aasakta.

Radhika married British musician Benedict Taylor in 2012.
