New Delhi:

Spectators at the Chennayin FC vs Kerala Blaster football match last night were probably hard pressed to keep their eyes on the pitch action instead of the VIP stand where a trinity of screen and sporting deities were watching the game. Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Tamil force of nature Rajinikanth cheered home team Chennayin FC, which is co-owned by Mr Bachchan's actor-son Abhishek. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was also seated next to them, as co-owner of Kerala Blasters.

Amitabh Bachchan tweeted this picture of the trinity:

Rajinikanth, who wore his trademark white shirt, attended at the invitation of Amitabh Bachchan, with whom he has co-starred in films like Hum. Mr Bachchan wore a yellow jersey (Kerala Blaster's colour) but waved a blue Chennayin FC flag to show his allegiance. His son Abhishek wore a Chennayin FC jersey. Sachin was, of course clad in yellow.

After the home team beat Kerala Blasters 2-1, Mr Bachchan tweeted:

He also wrote, "I thought I would come in today to cheer Abhishek's team and return at night, but I stay on to spend some time with him for he leaves tomorrow early, for Dubai for the premiere show of Happy New Year."

Chennayin FC and Kerala Blasters are part of the newly formed Indian Super League. Cricketer M S Dhoni, also- a co-owner of Kerala Blasters, did not appear to be present at last night's match.
