New Delhi:

If Ranbir Kapoor looked rugged in the first look of Bombay Velvet released yesterday, he looks nothing less than lethal on the first poster of the film which is out today. (First Look: Ranbir Kapoor as 'Big Shot' Johnny Balraj in Bombay Velvet)

On the poster, there's no sign of the cage fighter that Ranbir plays in the film. Instead, it somewhat explains why the epithet 'Big Shot' is applied to his character Johnny Balraj - dressed in a pin-striped suit that has mafia stamped all over it, a worse-for-wear looking Ranbir is armed with two machine guns.

It would seem that Johnny Balraj is a gangster as well. He's pleased to meet you, by the way. If we're to take the tagline on the poster at face value, Johnny Balraj is neither Badtameez nor Besharam - he's very polite, just like Kahaani's unassuming assassin Bob Biswas.

Like the first look, the first poster was tweeted by the film's leading lady, actress Anushka Sharma, who plays a jazz singer in Sixties-era Mumbai.

Meanwhile, actress Raveena Tandon, who will also be seen in the film as a jazz singer, says that the film is "fantabulously better than what expected."

She shared her excitement on Twitter:

Bombay Velvet, directed by Anurag Kashyap, is based on Gyan Prakash's book Mumbai Fables and also stars filmmaker Karan Johar in a negative role. The film is slated to release on May 15.
