In keeping with the outsize Ganesh Utsav festivities that Andheri Cha Raja, or King of Andheri, commands, the world's biggest
laddoo was offered as
prasad on September 22 in Mumbai. Actress Raveena Tandon did the honours, unveiling the giant
besan laddoo.
Dressed in a sheer
sari with a yellow applique border from the shelves of designer Manish Malhotra, Raveena looked thrilled as she cut the ribbon to unveil the plus-sized sweet, which took a team of 42 people five days to make.
The
laddoo weighs an incredible 8,645 kilos and the organisers intend to break the world record. Yes, there is a world record and it is currently held by a
laddoo weighing 7,858 kilos and made by a sweetshop in Andhra Pradesh.
Andheri Cha Raja is one of Mumbai's best known Ganpatis and is named in the manner accepted as local tradition. Mumbai's most famous Ganpati is called Lalbaug Cha Raja, or King of Lalbaug.
