New Delhi: Actor Varun Dhawan is happy because children like and support his work.

"I am growing with my audience. When I made my debut, I was 24 and they have grown up with me. They are with me, with each choice of mine. I have been lucky that children like me. The youth and the kids, they come and support me," Varun told PTI.

Varun made his debut in Bollywood with 2012's Student Of The Year. He has featured in films like Main Tera Hero, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badlapur. The actor will soon be seen in Rohit Shetty's Dilwale, co-starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Kriti Sanon. Varun plays the role of Shah Rukh's brother in Dilwale.

"I met Rohit sir a couple of times as I am a big fan of his work. I heard that he was making a film where he needs an actor of the senior generation and another from the junior one. And then I got the script. I was the first person to be offered this role, even before Shah Rukh sir," said Varun.(Also Read: The Making of These Dilwale Action Scenes Will Give You Goosebumps)

"I will not do chamchagiri but if I like a director, I will tell him that I like your work and I want to work with you. I would do that," added Varun.

Varun also said that he is very attached to the Dilwale team.

"You are bound to get attached as you are shooting for 150 days. No workshop can get this kind of chemistry unless you have a bond. It was like a real family. We got along so well. Shah Rukh sir called me on the first day and said, 'If there is anything you ever need, call me.' He has always been there. He is just there for everyone," said Varun.

"It is not about money or success in those terms always. Sometimes, even to be appreciated is important. People think that the effort is less in popular commercial cinema but that's not true. The action scenes were very difficult. I stood on a monster truck and jumped from there. I look happy doing it but it is not easy," added Varun.

Varun will be seen next in Dishoom, which is being directed by his brother Rohit Dhawan. It also features John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez.

"We have a big schedule in Abu Dhabhi in January. The movie has a lot of cool action scenes," said Varun.

Dilwale is scheduled to release on December 18.
