Roy Ticket Sales Dip on Sunday in Side Effect of India vs Pakistan

New Delhi: Ticket sales for Ranbir Kapoor's new film Roy took a hammering yesterday alongside the Pakistani cricket team. Almost everyone was sending their Sunday watching India play Pakistan in the World Cup Down Under, which was bad news for box office collections. The film made a little over Rs 7 crores yesterday, a drop of Rs 4 crores from Saturday's earnings. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh blamed the cricket:



India beat Pakistan by 76 runs so it's unlikely that Team Roy will be lamenting its losses (yes, some things are more important than Bollywood). (Movie Review: Roy)

Roy now has five days in which to regain some of its lost ground before Varun Dhawan's Badlapur releases this Friday.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor, who stars in his first film since 2013's Besharam, plays the eponymous art thief in the Vikramjit Singh-directed thriller. Jacqueline Fernandez and Arjun Rampal co-star.
