New Delhi: As always, Congress politician Baba Siddique's annual iftaar party in Mumbai on July 5 was a high profile affair attended by Bollywood stars and politicians. Yes, Salman Khan was there. No, Shah Rukh Khan was not.

Salman, dressed in a black shirt, was accompanied by several member of the Khan-daan including father Salim Khan, his sisters Alvira and Arpita, and Arpita's husband Aayush Sharma. For two years in a row, Baba Siddique's iftaar parties have facilitated brief reunions for the camera between then warring superstars SRK and Salman. At the parties, they met and they hugged amid popping flash-bulbs, prompting hopeful headlines of a mended friendship. The friendship wasn't, however, repaired until Arpita and Aayush were married last November.

In SRK's absence, Salman had enough company in former flame Sangeeta Bijlani, Kick co-star Jacqueline Fernandez, Bigg Boss alumnus Elli Avram, close friend Suneil Shetty, protege Varun Dhawan who has reportedly replaced him in Shuddhi, his Bajrangi Bhaijaan director Kabir Khan and his wife Mini Mathur, and actor couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab whose son Suraj is another protege of Salman's.

Also on the guest list were actresses Huma Qureshi, Esha Gupta and Sana Khan. TV stars and real life couples Shabbir Ahluwalia and Kanchi Kaul, and Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Sheikh were present, as were director Madhur Bhandarkar and composer Wajid. The political world was represented by former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Congress leaders Sushil Kumar Shinde and Priya Dutt and actor-politician Raj Babbar with his wife Nadira.

Baba Siddique mingled with his guests and posed for group photographs with them.

Jacqueline, who dazzled in a sleeveless gold lehenga, sat at the high table with Salman and his father Salim Khan and was photographed chatting freely with them.

Most guests opted for traditional outfits. Esha Gupta was ravishing in an orange sari. Sana Khan and Arpita chose yellow salwaar kameez. Sangeeta Bijlani and Alvira were in red. The only exception was Huma Qureshi who wore a Shruti Seth maxi.
