Shah Rukh Khan and His Team of 'Idiots' Party on Nonsense Ki Night

A still from the song Nonsense Ki Night

New Delhi:

It's proved! Only the team of Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan can make outrageous concepts work. It was their team which made us believe that cycle rickshaws can do wheelies and stoppies, we can ditch spit by using Matrixesque stunts and dating teachers was cool in Main Hoon Na (2004).

Bolsted by its success, they teamed up again three years later to give us a tale of Punnar-janam (reincarnation) and revenge in Om Shanti Om. In 2007, when urban Indians ridiculed all superstitions, they made the audience groove to their tune in theatres with this concept boosted by the satirical take on Bollywood like the song Dard-e-Disco, Shah Rukh's superstar persona 'O K' and Mohabbat man - the superhero. They also brought together half of Bollywood's leading stars of then and now (2007) for the song Deewangi another first. (Also Read: Happy New Year is Dedicated to all Losers)

In short, Farah - Shah Rukh team can make the grandest and quirkiest Bollywood dreams come to life. This was again evident with the trailer and songs of Happy New Year where Charlie (Shah Rukh) is leading a bunch of, self-declared, losers on a heist disguised underneath their efforts to win the 'World Dance Championships. The stunts, constumes and lyrics were all signature Farah-SRK style 'over-the-top' and now comes the icing on the cake - the latest song Nonsense Ki Night.

The song composed by Vishal-Shekhar also has lyrics by them with Farah chipping in. The lyrics of the song, sung by Mika, are verbatim translation of Hindi Idioms which give it an overall quirky appeal.

Sample this - the first four lines of the song and the Hindi idioms they are based on:

Dance Not Coming, Courtyard Crooked (Naach Na Jaane Aangan Teda),
Eating Cake by Being Stupid (Yeda Banke Peda Khana)
Buffalo Going In The Water (Gayee Bhains Paani Mein)
If You Tiger Me Tiger And Quarter (Tu Sher Toh Mein Sawaa Sher)

The video of the song is equally funny with crazy sparkly costumes, dumb dance moves and some funny practice sequences featuring all the stars including Deepika, Abhishek, Boman, Vivaan and Sonu. Though the dance moves are intentionally funny it's delightful to see Vivaan, Boman and Sonu pull them off with ample fun-element. The highlight of the almost two minute long sequence is when Boman simply walks off the stage on the line Buffalo Going In The Water.

As for the lyrics ,co-lyricist Farah had this to say about her experience:

She also shared trivia about the song which included:

Though it has invoked mixed reactions online the song, with 'A Few Idiots and Few Idioms' is surely an intriguing prelude to the film which will release in India on October 24. We just hope that the just like the song goes it should be All Is In the Well If End Is In The Well for Happy New Year.
