New Delhi: A day after Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium was declared off-limits no longer to Shah Rukh Khan, the 49-year-old actor tweeted a thank you note to the Mumbai Cricket Association.

On August 2, the MCA lifted a five-year ban that had been imposed after an altercation between the actor and a security guard and MCA officials in 2012.

After an IPL match in which SRK's Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Mumbai Indians, a police complaint was registered against the Bollywood superstar for voluntarily causing hurt and for intimidation. However, since it was a non-cognizable offence, SRK wasn't arrested.

Shah Rukh Khan defended himself by alleging that he had been provoked after security guards allegedly touched a group of children he was picking up after the match, which included his then pre-teen daughter Suhana.

In his police complaint, the security guard alleged that he saw the actor and his entourage in the players' dressing room and asked them to vacate, after which the actor and his entourage allegedly tried to walk onto the stadium ground.

Since the imposition of the ban, Shah Rukh Khan has not attended any games at Wankhede stadium including the May 14 match between KKR and Mumbai Indians this year.
