New Delhi: Actress Sonam Kapoor may be late to the party but she has finally has added her voice to the storm of protests over Censor Board member Ashoke Pandit's obscene tweet directed at filmmaker Karan Johar after the AIB Knockout Roast that has raised as many hackles as it has laughs over its risqué content.

On February 4, Sonam described Mr Pandit as 'homophobic' and 'misogynistic' on Twitter:

She was later accused by some of having deleted the tweet, which she denied:

A day before, Sonam was asked to comment on the hullabaloo around the AIB roast and claimed that she had not watched the show as yet. Sonam had said, "Once I see the video then I will comment, after all it is my brother. But I won't comment until I see it." (Also Read: AIB Roast? Bollywood Offers Plenty Else to Offend)

Sonam is related to both the actors who were 'roasted' on the show - Arjun Kapoor is her first cousin, as is well-known; Ranveer Singh is also family from Sonam's mother's side, which is less well-known.

Presumably, Sonam has now seen or is at least well versed with the contents of the show. While she hasn't given it a direct thumbs-up, she's re-tweeted fans and industry insiders - including Congress' Milind Deora - who have supported the comedy collective online.

During the roast, Sonam also came in for a share of indirect insult when an AIB panelist told Arjun that it takes special talent to be this 'useless' in a family which has Sonam and Sanjay Kapoor. Sanjay Kapoor, the younger brother of Arjun's and Sonam's fathers Boney and Anil, was in the front row of the show and took a bow when the comment was made. However, Sonam's father Anil Kapoor was reportedly not amused by the joke.

Many other celebrities have also supported AIB and its participants. (Also Read: AIB Roast and Karan Johar Find a Fan in Ram Gopal Varma)

Actress Alia Bhatt, who was also savaged in the show and had previously participated in AIB's Genius of the Year spoof, tweeted:

Sonakshi Sinha, another celebrity target of AIB rudeness, said:

And 'Roastmaster' Karan Johar commented on the subject with one succinct tweet:

Meanwhile, the three-part roast was removed from YouTube after the Maharashtra government said it would investigate the show for obscenity. Comedy collective AIB explained in a statement that they were doing so because those who had supported them had been placed in a position where things could get unpleasant. The roast was filmed in a Mumbai stadium with an audience of 4,000 last December. It was edited into a 90 minute show which was released on AIB's YouTube channel on January 28. The panel of eight who roasted Arjun and Ranveer included AIB - Tanmay Bhat, Ashish Shakya, Rohan Joshi and Gursimran Bhat - fellow comics Aditi Mittal and Abish Mathew, former Roadies judge Raghu Ram and film critic Rajeev Masand.
