Sunny Deol To Revive Home Banner With Ghayal Sequel

Chandigarh: Actor Sunny Deol is all set to revive his home banner Vijeta films with a sequel of his 1990 blockbuster Ghayal.

The sequel will be directed by Ashwini Chaudhay instead of Raj Kumar Santoshi, who helmed the original film.

As for the story, the original Ghayal ended with Deol being caught by the police. The sequel is expected to narrate what happens when he comes out of jail.

In the middle of this month Deol is leaving for Manali for a script of the sequel.

"I wanted to bring its second part...but at that time the trend of part two was not prevalent in Bollywood unlike in the Hollywood, where one would come across sequels of Rocky and Lethal Weapons etc," Sunny told PTI.

"It's after a long gap that I will be doing an action film," he said.

Ghayal had won seven Filmfare awards. After giving box office hits with a 2007 drama Apne and a romantic comedy this year Yamla Pagla Deewana, the Deol family with father Dharmendra and brother Bobby is now also working on the sequel to Yamla Pagla Deewana.

"In the next three months the sequel to Yamla Pagla Deewana will hit the screen," he said.

Sunny, who is still troubled by his backache, said that he was not after the awards.

Talking about the box office failure of Right ya Wrong, 53-year-old actor said, "We try to give good films...but publicity too played a great role in the film world."

Sunny is not sure the way things move in Bollywood. "Things change from Friday to Friday...we are in a rat race where no one knows about his capability," he said.

About his family, the actor said, "I respect my father...he guides me and we love him."

Talking about his upcoming film Mohalla 80 in which he is playing the role of a Sanskrit teacher, Deol said, "It's a deep rooted story on the lines of Arjun, Damini and Ghayal.

There are lot of emotions in the film," he said about the film directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi.

Set in Banaras the film is a satire. It is a film based on a famous and historical Mohalla (locality) on the southern end of Banaras and river bank of Ganga.

He has donned the traditional garb of a Hindu priest complete with the dhoti, kolhapuri chappals, kurta, gamcha and thick black mustache.

Sunny too is lured by small screen as he is set to make his debut as a judge on Zee TV's upcoming stunt based show.

The actor is excited about his new innings on small screen with the show titled Jaanbaaz.
