New Delhi: The film version of Chetan Bhagat's Half Girlfriend has had a change of hero. Actor Sushant Singh Rajput is out of the Mohit Suri-directed film and Arjun Kapoor could be in, reports Mumbai Mirror.

Sushant, who is busy filming Dinesh Vijan's first film, has blamed his exit on date issues.

The 29-year-old actor, who started out with starring roles on Balaji soaps, told Mumbai Mirror: "It's unfortunate. I was excited about working with Ekta (Kapoor) again but the dates didn't work out. The team wanted the same dates as that of Dinu's (Dinesh Vijan) film, which I'm doing next. Since I had committed dates for it long ago, I didn't have an option but to pull out of Mohit's project."

Mumbai Mirror also quotes a source as saying: "The script has been shared with Arjun." Assuming he signs up, this will be Arjun's second film based on a Chetan Bhagat book after last year's 2 States, co-starring Alia Bhatt. Alia was also reportedly in talks to star in Half Girlfriend.

Sushant will co-star with Dilwale actress Kriti Sanon in the Dinesh Vijan- directed movie. Kriti has reportedly been roped in to play the female lead in Half Girlfriend as well. (Also Read: Sushant Singh Rajput, Kriti Sanon in Dinesh Vijan's First Film)

However, in an interview to IANS, Kriti said: "I don't think I can talk about that. I have met Mohit and it's a script that I really liked. I have also launched the book and I have read it a year ago but there are other things that need to be figured out. There is nothing locked right now so I feel it's not right for me to talk about it."

Kriti will next be seen in Rohit Shetty's Dilwale and Sushant in M S Dhoni: The Untold Story.
