New Delhi: Film industry insiders with an eye on profit margins have gone off to craft a paean to the box office charms of Tanu Trivedi and Manu Sharma as we write this. Aanand L Rai's hilariously complicated love story, starring Kangana Ranaut, Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan, has already made Rs 55 crore in India since releasing last Friday and has been declared 2015’s first Bollywood blockbuster as it speeds towards the 100 crore finish line.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted:

The original 2011 film, to which this is the sequel, was also a hit. For lead actress Kangana, 2015 is turning out as charmed as 2014 when her film Queen won her plaudits, revenues and a National Award.

Tanu Weds Manu Returns is ratcheting up business abroad as well and had the biggest opening weekend of this year's Bollywood films overseas.

Deepika Padukone's Piku has already made Rs 100 crores but that's including its overseas collections. At home, it had earned Rs 73 crores at last count.

With a slew of big banner films, including Dil Dhadakne Do and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, lined up for release in the near future, the box office graph will likely be upwardly mobile for the rest of what has been a largely disappointing year.
