Guests arrived dressed in their best. Happy New Year star Deepika Padukone, in a glittering red-pink sari, was greeted warmly by Mrs Bachchan senior. Queen actress Kangana Ranaut was fabulous - despite some very casual styling - in a blue and gold Raw Mango skirt-choli-dupatta ensemble.

Bang Bang star Hrithik Roshan had a fit of the giggles as he arrived with friend and Dhoom: 2 co-star Uday Chopra and actress Nargis Fakhri, striking in a yellow and pink SVA sari.

Actresses Sonam Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor both wore pale Anamika Khanna - Sonam in green and gold, Shraddha in beige and green. SOnakshi Sinha wore a Masaba sari in red and black.

Shraddha's Haider co-star Tabu wore a megawatt yellow outfit. Shilpa Shetty, of whom we caught only a fleeting glimpse, wore pink and gold. Actress Aditi Rao Hydari also wore pink.

Neha Dhupia wore a Raw Mango outfit similar to Kangana's but left off the dupatta. Urmila Matondkar was spotted in an almost-bridal outfit while VJ-singer Sophie Choudhry wore Manish Malhotra.

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was also at the party with wife Anjali, who wore beige and blue.

Bachchan niece Naina wore a simple cream and gold sari and attended with fiance Kunal Kapoor. Actress Sonali Bendre and husband Goldie Behl, very close friends of the Bachchans, came with their son Ranveer.

Pregnant Genelia D'Souza and husband Riteish Deshmukh were colour-coordinated in pink and yellow. Actress Raveena Tandon arrived hand-in-hand with husband Anil Thadani.

Old friends of the Bachchans formed a sizeable chunk of the guest list. Shatrughan Sinha, Big B's co-star in films such as Bombay to Goa and Shaan, arrived with family. Ramesh Sippy, director of Sholay and Shaan, escorted wife Kiran Juneja. Actor Prem Chopra, who appeared with Big B in films like Naseeb, Trishul and Shahenshah, came with wife Uma.
