Mumbai: Actor Varun Dhawan, who will be voicing the character of Captain America in the dubbed Hindi version of Hollywood's Captain America: Civil War, likes the comic superhero character because he finds him to be an "old school" persona.

"I like him because he has that culture, which we call old school. It's important that we take it forward. So I think that for today's kids and youth there is no better role model than him, who sticks on to his culture and beliefs from the past," said Varun, at a promotional event for the film on Thursday where he unveiled a special Captain America statue which was flown in specially from Hollywood.

Varun will be lending his voice to Captain America, played by Chris Evans for the Hindi dubbed version of the film, releasing on May 6. The film also features the other superheroes from the Avengers and stars Robert Downey, Jr. and Scarlett Johansson among others.

"Captain America is very mature, and a sober kind of person and in real life, I'm not that way at all. Playing this role was more difficult, because to have that kind of control in situations, to have that kind of maturity to show when facing adversity was really difficult for me. So that's why I chose to voice Captain America," said Varun.

The team of the film recently went to Singapore and were shown Varun's bits from the film. About their reaction, he said: "Chris Evans has sent back a video which will be unveiled. It's what he feels about the trailer. One of the things he said was that I was very honest in the portrayal and that does mean the world to me."

"Eventually it's his character and he has brought it to life in so many other films. I have to keep the tone the same, the things he believes in and the honesty has to come out in my voice as well. That's why I did it, not for any other reason, and for the kids who're going to watch it," said the Dilwale actor.

Varun will next be seen in Dishoom.
