This picture speaks a 1000 words - many more than the five actual words, two hashtags and one emoticon that the accompanying caption contains: "Don't we look great together?" ;) #leelajaisikoinahi #4YearsOfRanveerSingh

Actor Ranveer Singh has seized the opportunity offered by the flurry of behind-the-scenes photos posted on his Instagram to mark his fourth year in Bollywood to include a picture of his Ram-Leela co-star Deepika Padukone, cheekily hinting that rumours of an off-screen romance may be true.

It is the closest the actor has come to confessing to a relationship with Deepika and he might get no closer than this, having reportedly been read the riot act by her in the past for being indiscreet.

Deepika, who never attempted to hide a previous relationship with Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani co-star Ranbir Kapoor, chooses her words carefully when it comes to discussing her personal life in public. She's remained diplomatic when asked about Ranveer, telling a talk show host in October that it was too soon to say whether they were seeing each other and that every relationship needs breathing time.

We also spotted Deepika and Ranveer in matching outfits as they made their way out of Mumbai's Olive Bar on April 13. Before you discount that as evidence of dating, consider Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's BAFTA outing in matching tuxedos and Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' coordinated wardrobes when they were married - nothing says 'we're together' like wearing the same outfit, it seems.

Deepika and Ranveer could stay secretive and keep us guessing like Ranbir Kapoor and his current flame, Katrina Kaif; or they could tell the world they're dating and so-what-about-it like Ranveer's rumoured ex-girlfriend Anushka Sharma and her now-beau, cricketer Virat Kohli.

Either way, the public scrutiny is unlikely to stop.
