Today's Big Releases: Khoobsurat, Daawat-e-Ishq

Lovers of fairytale romances have a lot to look forward to this weekend with the Bollywood movies Khoobsurat and Daawat-e-Ishq set for release today.

Khoobsurat, an update of the original hit featuring Rekha, stars Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor and Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan in the lead roles and is directed by Shashanka Ghosh. The plot reportedly revolves around bubbly, quirky middle class physiotherapist (Sonam) from Delhi who goes to Rajasthan in order to treat the wheelchair-bound Raja of Sambalgarh and encounters the sophisticated, stiff upper lipped royals led by the aristocratic Fawad Khan. Ratna Pathak Shah plays a regal matriarch - a role she inherits from her mother Dina Pathak who played the stern disciplinarian in the original Hrishikesh Mukherjee hit while Kirron Kher plays Sonam's outspoken mother in the film. Among the movie's main attractions is actor Fawad Khan who has acquired a cult status of sorts - especially among the female fans - in the past few months.

Also up for release today is Yash Raj Films' Daawat-e-Ishq, starring Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur. Directed by Ishaqzaade's Habib Faisal, the film is a love story of a Hyderabadi girl, disillusioned with romantic, and a cook from Lucknow and the face-off between two different cultures.

Hollywood has three offerings for cinegoers this weekend - A Walk Among the Tombstones, Dolphin Tale 2 and The Maze Runner.

The Maze Runner, a science fiction action thriller film directed by Wes Ball, features actors Dylan O'Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Will Poulter in key roles. Dylan O'Brien plays a 16-year-old boy who awakens in an elevator with his memory erased and finds himself among a community of boys attempting to find their way out of an ever-changing labyrinth.

Dolphin Tale 2 is Charles Martin Smith's American family drama and a sequel to his 2011 film, Dolphin Tale. Harry Connick, Jr., Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson and Morgan Freeman. reprise their roles from the first film. The original film was about the friendship between a boy and a dolphin, Winter, whose tail was lost in a crab trap. The sequel revolves around the quest to provide Winter with a companion so that her recovery is expedited.

Lovers of crime thrillers can watch A Walk Among the Tombstones based on Lawrence Block's novel of the same name. Starring Liam Neeson and Dan Stevens, the story revolves around a private investigator (played by Liam Neeson) who is hired by a drug dealer (Dan Stevens) to find his kidnapped wife in New York City.
