New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan's 2014 Diwali offering Happy New Year releases today. Directed by Farah Khan, the film features a stellar cast of Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah. The film also stars actor Jackie Shroff in a negative role.
The film follows the story of six 'losers' who aim to rob a bank in the guise of entering a dance competition. Happy New Year contains the slick action and dance sequences seen before in the first two SRK and Farah collaborations - Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om.
The film's cast began promotions of the film on Twitter, with the actors changing their Twitter handles to their screen names. A heavy-duty series of promotional concerts, called the SLAM! tour, also took place in USA and London.
The film has been passed with a 'U' certificate, ensuring a festive family weekend.
