Today's Big Releases: Fugly, How To Train Your Dragon 2

  • While we have not yet reached a point where we are asking ourselves repeatedly Yeh Fugly Fugly Kya Hai, the latest release from Akshay Kumar and Ashwini Yardi's Grazing Goat Pictures has generated some amount of pre-release buzz. Fugly, which stars newcomers Mohit Marwah, Kiara Advani, Arfi Lamba and boxer Vijender Singh along with Jimmy Sheirgill as the main antagonist, is a youthful film that captures the adventures of four friends on a road-trip gone awry. Directed by Kabir Sadanand, the film features music by Yo Yo Honey Singh and features a special appearance by Salman Khan.
  • The main competition for Fugly arrives riding on a fire-breathing flying beast as Disney's sequel to its very successful animated film How To Train Your Dragon releases in India in 3D and 2D. How To Train Your Dragon 2 features the voices of Cate Blanchett and Kristen Wiig in addition to the original cast of Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera and Jonah Hill.
  • Also in the fray for your ticket money is the biopic Grace Of Monaco featuring Nicole Kidman. The film, which arrives a month late to Indian shores after its international release, traces the life of Hollywood star Grace Kelly from when she retired from the movies and settled into a life of royalty as the Princess of Monaco. Grace Of Monace, which is co-produced by Uday Chopra's YRF Entertainment, has mostly been panned by critics, now including at Cannes this year.
  • Lastly, we have director Debaloy Dey's Machhli Jal Ki Rani which features Swara Bhaskar and Bhanu Uday in the lead roles. The film deals with the supernatural experiences of a housewife.
