Vidya Balan: I Thought I was to Play Kitty to Karamchand

Vidya Balan will be seen as a female detective in Bobby Jasoos releasing on July 4.

When Vidya Balan was asked to consider a role in Bobby Jasoos, she thought she would be playing the role of Kitty, the funny assistant to the popular sleuth Karamchand.

When Vidya Balan was asked to consider a role in Bobby Jasoos, she thought she would be playing the role of Kitty, the funny assistant to the popular sleuth Karamchand from the TV serial from way back when.
Vidya didn't know that the makers were asking her to play a female detective in the movie. (Also read:Should the no-pregnancy clause be included in an actress' contract?)
In Bobby Jasoos, produced by Born Free Entertainment, Vidya plays the title role.

When Vidya met producers Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha, as well as director Samar Shaikh and writer Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh, she asked them, "Okay, what is the film that you want to make about?"
Vidya now says, "They told me 'It's called Bobby Jasoos and I immediately thought that they want me to play Kitty to Karamchand. Great! Then Dia told me that we want you to play Bobby Jasoos and I was immediately interested because I had never imagined a female detective."
"I took the script with me, read it, had a few meetings with Samar and Sanyuktha to understand their vision and, as it was a great concept, I immediately agreed to do it," Vidya added. (Also read:Vidya Balan wears special made-in-Australia sari)
Releasing on July 4, Bobby Jasoos, presented by Reliance Entertainment, also stars Ali Fazal, Kiran Kumar, Arjan Bajwa, Anupriya Goenka, Zarina Wahab and Tanvi Azmi.
