Vishal Bhardwaj really enjoys working with Ajay Devgn
Mumbai:
After donning several hats in multiple award-winning film
Haider as composer, director, producer and writer, Vishal Bhardwaj is switching to his first passion of music direction in
Drishyam.
Although, the film is an emotional thriller, Vishal and legendary writer Gulzar wanted to create an item number for the film. Director Nishikant Kamat, however, did not allow it.
At a media interaction for the film where his song
Carbon Copy from
Drishyam, was screened, Vishal said: "Gulzar
sahab and I were keen on making an item number for this film. But Nishikant disappointed us by saying that he wanted a song on the lines of
Ae Zindagi Gale Laga Le.
"It rarely happens that directors approach us with songs of this kind of aesthetics," added Vishal.
About producer Kumar Mangat, Vishal said: "I had a great association with Kumar
ji for songs like
Naina Thag Lenge for
Omkara.
"But Kumar
ji does not free you till you give him a brilliant song. So I try to make a beautiful song just to get rid of him," said the
Haider director.
On reuniting with Ajay Devgn after
Omkara, Vishal said: "I really enjoyed working on this film. I don't even think twice if I get an opportunity to work with Ajay and Kumar
ji as the most amazing experience of my life has been in
Omkara. I really miss working with Ajay and Kumar
ji."
Produced by Viacom 18 and Kumar Mangat,
Drishyam features Tabu and Shriya Saran apart from Ajay Devgn. The movie will hit the theatres on July 31.
