 Vision document says Goa can transform into mini Bollywood

  • A Vision 2035 document, prepared by experts on behalf of Goa government, has underlined that the coastal state can be metamorphosed into a hi-tech mini Bollywood in near future by banking on "creative economy".
  • The document, which is a roadmap for future development, is prepared by a committee headed by scientist Raghunath Mashelkar and opines that Goa can take full advantage of creative economy.
  • "Taking full advantage of emergence of creative economy, Goa 2035 should aim to be the next hi-tech mini Bollywood," reads the document which was presented to Chief Minister Digambar Kamat today.
  • "This would mean that tomorrow's promising stakeholders of Bollywood industry producers, actors and technicians- with exposure to the Information Technology move to Goa and build hi-tech studios," it said.
  • The committee, which went through a rigorous exercise of consultation before penning the document, says, "the film-making industry will build on and enhance clean environment thus making Goa an ever nicer place to live in".
  • "The present contribution of knowledge industry is one per cent to the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and there lies a huge opportunity to raise it to 10 per cent and more by 2035," the document reads.
