Mumbai: Aamir Khan, who is currently busy shooting for Dangal, only longs for the audience's response to his movies and not any awards, says his filmmaker wife Kiran Rao.

"Aamir always says that 'It is the people who award me and that I don't need anything else. Audience's reaction is most important for me'. He says that all the time," Kiran said in Mumbai at the 17th Jio MAMI Film Festival.

Aamir is one actor who rarely goes to any awards events.

His forthcoming movie Dangal will see him in the role of an ageing wrestler. He has put on more than 20 kilos of weight to suit the role, but Kiran said that now he has to lose the extra pounds to look young for a particular section in the film. Talking about the same, she said: "It's a film about a wrestler and the journey of his character. There is a section in the film in which he has to play his younger self and in most of the film he is playing an older man. So for that, he will lose weight. It is going to take a lot of work and we will start working on that from January."

"It will be done in a systematic way. We have kept enough time and it will be done with the help of nutritionists and physical experts," Kiran added.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal is scheduled to release on December 23 next year.
