Mumbai: Aamir Khan's filmmaker wife Kiran Rao was certainly looking forward to an evening out without Aamir when we caught up with her at the Indian premiere of new Hollywood film La La Land on November 23. Meanwhile, Aamir is also busy with the promotions of his Christmas release Dangal. The wrestling drama is based on the true story of how the Phogat sisters - Geeta and Babita - were trained in wrestling by their father. The Phogat sisters won gold and silver for India at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, and have more medals to their credit. Musical comedy La La Land co-stars Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling and is directed by Damien Chazelle.

Kiran, who appeared to be a bigger fan of the The Notebook actor than she is of her husband, confessed that having left Aamir back home was a conscious decision. Now, she can enjoy watching Ryan Gosling without any distraction and 'in peace.' Kiran told NDTV: "I've wisely left Aamir at home so I can feast my eyes on Ryan Gosling in peace."

Meanwhile, the 51-year-old actor has finished shooting for Dangal. Aamir gained 25 extra kilos and weighed 95 kg to suit his role as the middle aged Haryanvi wrestler. It took Aamir six months and a rigorous workout regime - which included running and cycling - to get back in shape and play the young Mahavir. Kiran conceded that Aamir is now starting to resemble the man she married in the first place. She laughed saying: "Yes, he's finally not Phogat anymore. He's trying to lose weight because he will soon start shooting for Thug." Kiran referred to Aamir's upcoming film Thugs of Hindostan, in which Aamir co-stars with Amitabh Bachchan.

Between Dangal and Thugs of Hindostan, Kiran said: "Aamir is a blur these days but we got to spend a lot of time together on vacation lately. So, I'm not complaining."

Aamir, Kiran and their four-year-old son Azad were holidaying in Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh earlier this month.

Kiran said she enjoyed the vacation so much that she's eagerly looking forward to the next one but with her finally having found a space to write and hopefully work on her next project, it looks like that isn't happening for Kiran or Aamir anytime soon.

Dangal hits screens on December 23.
