'Yahoo' star Shammi Kapoor turns 79

Bollywood's original dancingstar Shammi Kapoor, known for bringing flamboyance, energy andboyish charm onscreen, turned 79 today.

The Yahoo star has not been keeping well for sometime but that has not stopped his enthusiasm for life.

Not many know that he was the first Bollywood star touse Internet at a time when the web was not even popular inIndia.

"I have to visit hospital thrice in a month fordialysis. I am retired but happy and try to catch up new filmswhenever I have time," the actor told PTI.

The Jangali star continues to remain one of the mosttech savvy actors even today by posting his daily musings onmicroblogging site Twitter.

"Internet use in India started in 1995 but I hadstarted using it in 1991 (because of a special application byApple). I also made an Internet users' society with Mafatlal,Harish Mehta and Devang Mehta," Shammi says.

The actor brought lightness and new charm to acting.His Elvis Presley's puff and dance made him a heartthrob.

When asked about his favourite films today, Shammisays, "I loved 3 Idiots and Munnabhai, they werebeautifully written. I also like Karan Johar, who is makingfilms for today's youth."

Shammi recently made a comeback in acting forgrandnephew Ranbir Kapoor starrer Rockstar.

"Ranbir is very talented and he is working hard. Hewill become a huge star soon. I recently shot Rockstar withRanbir and Imtiaz Ali in Delhi," Shammi says.

The veteran actor, best known for his roles in filmslike Jangali, Janwar, Brahmachari, Rajkumar and MastKalander, accepts that Bollywood does not give importance togood scripts even today.

"We are weak when it comes to good scripts butwhenever there has been a good story, films have worked."

Born on 21 October 1931 in Mumbai, Shammi believesthat time changes things but not their beauty.
