An Oscar For Leonardo DiCaprio Please, Says Academy Rule-Breaker

Los Angeles: Filmmaker Harvey Weinstein, who is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, broke rules by endorsing Leonardo DiCaprio for the Actor in a Leading Role award for the Oscars, reported usmagazine.com .

Mr Weinstein applauded the work of Leonardo, who is nominated for his role in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's The Revenant, at the amfAR New York Gala on Wednesday.

Mr Weinstein, who gave a shout-out to Leonardo on stage at the event, said: "As an Academy member, you're not supposed to endorse anyone up for an Academy Award, but I have to say Leo DiCaprio is so amazing in The Revenant." "His devotion and the way he rolls it all up into something beautiful is amazing. I've never worked with anyone who's so wonderful and so classy," he added.

The 88th Academy Awards will take place on February 28.
