New Delhi: Actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will be adding to their brood of six by adopting a Syrian orphan, reports RadarOnline.

Angelina's work with the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees has taken her to refugee camps in Turkey and in April, she criticized the United Nations Security Council for failing to do enough about the four-year conflict in Syria. RadarOnline quotes a source as saying that the actress met three Syrian brothers who were orphaned after their father was taken away by soldiers and their mother killed in a bombing. She reportedly wanted to adopt all three but after husband Brad raised concerns about how it would affect their six children, decided to adopt just one.

"Angie wanted to adopt all three, but when she got back to the United States, and told Brad about it, he said no. Going from six children to nine was just way too much, and Brad was concerned about how it would impact their other kids. But Angie didn't put up a fight. She knew it just wouldn't work. But they compromised at adopting one," the source told Radaronline.

"It has been a very long process to adopt the Syrian orphan. The red tape has been almost impossible at times. It could take at least another four to five months before the child is brought to the United States," the source added. Three of Angelina and Brad's six children together are adopted - sons Maddox and Pax from Cambodia and Vietnam, and eldest daughter Zahara from Ethopia. Their biological children - Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne - are the youngest of the brood.

Angelina and Brad married in a private ceremony in November last year.
