Ethan Hawke praised Angelina Jolie for her humanitarian work and stellar accomplishments in Hollywood

Actor Ethan Hawke has stayed in touch with his Taking Lives co-star Angelina Jolie by exchanging holiday cards, reported USA Today.

Ethan and Angelina worked together in 2003, which was before Angelina met and fell in love with Brad Pitt.

"Every now and then, I get a Christmas card," the 44-year-old actor said. Ethan was full of praise for his former co-star who turned her life completely around.

"I worked with her at a very interesting time in her life. It's pretty awesome what she's doing. People wanted her to be Marilyn Monroe. They wanted her to burn out. She was about as punk rock as a movie star could be. I loved her for it."

The Boyhood star also praised the Unbroken director for her humanitarian work.

"She's taken all that energy and turned that into being a substantive human being. The fact that Angelina has transcended the way the world objectified her and is making serious films, she deserves all the positive things that are happening."
