Xalapa, Mexico: The father and brother of Mexican filmmaker Alejandro Gomez Monteverde, who is married to former Miss USA Ali Landry, have been found dead in eastern Mexico after they were kidnapped.

The director's father, Juan Manuel Gomez Fernandez, and brother, Juan Manuel Gomez Monteverde, were abducted on September 4 as they left their home in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas, authorities said.

Their bodies were found with head wounds two weeks later in the neighboring eastern state of Veracruz, even though a ransom had been paid, prosecutors said.

The two appeared to "have been dead for several days," the Veracruz state prosecutor's office said in a statement. Authorities had yet to make any arrest.

Mr Gomez Monteverde, who directed the World War II war drama Little Boy in 2015, attended a funeral service for his father and brother this week, with scores of friends and relatives dressed in white.

Ali Landry, a mother of three, was crowned Miss USA in 1996.
