As a run up to the Oscars, Vanity Fair magazine and Freida will co-host a special party to further the cause of the girl child.
The event is a part of the 14th installment of "Campaign Hollywood", Vanity Fair's annual, week-long celebration leading up to the Academy Awards. Known to be one of the well-attended and sought after celebratory events, the event will also mark the 100th anniversary of the magazine.
Freida Pinto will now become the first Indian actress to have hosted the Vanity Fair pre-Oscar party. Called - DJ Night with Freida Pinto and Vanity Fair - the evening will feature a special performance by DJ AcE. The proceeds from the event will be directed to a campaign for the education of girls around the world through film and social media advocacy.
Freida Pinto's spokesperson confirmed the news and said in a statement, "When Vanity Fair approached Freida to co-host the pre-Oscar party with them she was more than happy to align with Vanity Fair and bring attention to the 10X10 Girl Rising initiative. She has always felt committed to this cause and wouldn't miss out on this opportunity."
Freida Pinto recently introduced the trailer of film Girl Rising at the Sundance Film Festival 2013. The movie showcases the stories of nine girls born into unforgiving circumstances. The actress is also the global ambassador for Plan International's 'Because I Am a Girl' campaign focussing on the cause of the girl child.
