James McAvoy runs with Olympic torch

Atonement star James McAvoy beamed with pride as he carried the Olympic torch through his native Scotland.

The 33-year-old actor ran with the famed flame in Glasgow and was watched by hundreds of locals who had lined the route for the event ahead of the London 2012 Games this summer, reported BBC online.

"The fact that they do something like this and they visit every town and they visit all the different places and everybody can get involved and really feel like its personal to them, I think makes it really special so I'm really honoured to be involved," he said.

Rapper Will.i.am, musicians Muse and Melanie Chisholm and actor Matt Smith are among the stars who have also carried the Olympic torch as part of its 70-day journey around the UK.
